Network+ certification is ideal for network professionals with at least nine months of experience. Obtaining your Network+ certification validates your skills in network administration and support, as well as your knowledge of network protocols, media, standards, and topologies.

Network+ careers include:

Field Support Technician, Entry Level

Field support Technicians at the entry level are typically responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of PC hardware and peripherals, network connectivity, and problem diagnosis and resolution on-site at the client’s location. This position requires an emphasis on maintaining customer satisfaction. The tech will typically work in a team environment or in tandem with high level technicians and will report to a manager.

Hardware Installation Coordinator, Entry Level

The entry-level hardware installation tech will focus on the implementation of network connectivity and hardware systems at client locations. He or she will assist with problem diagnosis and resolution and will work under limited supervision of a senior technician or manager.

Internet Network Specialist, Entry Level

Entry Level Internet Network Specialists work to monitor network performance, identify and maintain network infrastructure, and define network architecture. In addition, he or she will help implement, manage, and design large-scale TCP/IP networks. The tech will work under some supervision and report to a manager.

Internet Security Specialist, Entry Level

Entry level Internet Security Specialists maintain the security of the networks and work to prevent unauthorized activity. An understanding of the way hackers think and operate is very helpful as a primary duty is to protect the network from hacker activity. He or she will work with Unix and Windows systems in a number of different settings. The tech will work with direct supervision and report to management.

Network Administrator, Entry Level

Network Administrators configure, monitor, and maintain the company’s network. Building new networks, expanding existing networks, supporting software, designing server systems, and maintaining intranet and internet web presences are just a few of the Network Administrator’s responsibilities. The entry level tech will work under direct supervision and report to a manager.

Network Support Technician, Entry Level

The primary responsibility of a Network Support Technician is to monitor and maintain the network systems and its components. The support tech will identify and document problems and implement the appropriate solutions, as well as performing routine back-ups and monitor network performance. He or she will work under direct supervision and report to a manager.
