The Server+ certification validates upper-level competency in server technology and issues, such as configuration, installation, upgrading, troubleshooting, maintenance, and disaster recovery. This certification is designed for mid- to upper-level technicians.
The Server+ certification from CompTIA serves as a strong foundation that can be applied to a large variety of careers in numerous industries. The following are some career options that are ideal for Server+ certified persons.
Computer Operator, Intermediate Level
The Intermediate-level computer operator operates and monitors computer equipment. He or she will perform the needed tasks to properly maintain computers and their peripheral equipment, load peripherals for operating, monitor peripheral equipment and error messages to detect and prevent machine stoppage or faulty output. The operator will work under direct supervision and will report to a manager.
Field Support Technician, Entry Level
Field support Technicians at the entry level are typically responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of PC hardware and peripherals, network connectivity, and problem diagnosis and resolution on-site at the client’s location. This position requires an emphasis on maintaining customer satisfaction. The tech will typically work in a team environment or in tandem with high level technicians and will report to a manager.
Hardware Installation Coordinator, Entry Level
The entry-level hardware installation tech will focus on the implementation of network connectivity and hardware systems at client locations. He or she will assist with problem diagnosis and resolution and will work under limited supervision of a senior technician or manager.
Internet Systems Administrator, Intermediate Level
Internet Systems Administrators manage and tune Internet and intranet infrastructure, such as Web servers, FTP server, news and mail servers. He or she will also manage, configure, and deploy e-commerce servers and work under general supervision & report to a manager.
