Professionals who implement and administer MS SQL server databases will find that the Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) designation is one of the single most beneficial assets in forwarding their career.

  • Candidates for MCDBA certification must successfully pass three of a possible four core exams and at least one elective exam in a specialization of their choice. These exams serve to provide an accurate and quantifiable verification of technical expertise and practical efficiency in SQL Server database administration.

    Core Exams (3 exams required)

    Candidates must pass one SQL Server design exam and one SQL Server administration exam. Additionally, candidates must pass either the Windows 2000 exam or the .NET Enterprise Servers exam to fill the networking systems core requirement.

    Elective Exams (1 exam required)

    Candidates for MCDBA certification must also pass at least one elective exam of their choosing that shows proof of expertise with a particular Microsoft server product.
